Insect Study Merit Badge

Much (if not all) of the content that we will be covering this year during our spring/summer meetings and field trips are aligned with the Boy Scouts of America requirements for the Insect Study Merit Badge.

This is not coincidental since the founders of Utah Bug Club have been scoutmasters for the Boy Scouts of America and have taught this merit badge class prior to forming Utah Bug Club.  Utah Bug Club representatives are also currently registered (as of 10-15-04) with the Boy Scouts of America (either with the Utah National Parks Council or the Great Salt Lake Council) as officially registered merit badge counselors.

Boys of scout age who would like to pass off requirements for this merit badge are required to attend the appropriate UBC meetings as well as provide their own merit badge card for the counselors to sign off certain requirements.

Note:  As far as is known the meritbadge.com link, is not necessarily officially affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America.  Although the list of requirements as shown on the above link appear to be accurate, they may or may not be current with the official guidelines of the Boy Scouts of America.  If in doubt, the best way to get the most current requirements for any merit badge is to buy the merit badge pamphlet at your nearest official Boy Scouts of America office.
